Both of my girls are challenged with academic low self-confidence, and Chris not only supported them in developing study skills to master Chemistry and Integrated Sciences, but he also coached them in how to manage their feelings of fear around their work, especially my freshman. Her response to an academic challenge is to rush through her work, which causes her to make careless mistakes and then results in lower grades, reinforcing her negative belief that she is not a smart, capable student. Chris helped her develop skills to center herself and slow down to be more careful with her work, and in turn, she tested better and I saw her confidence in her capacity for scientific study increase during the time she worked with Chris.”
